Through the manipulation of Tropoelastin, Elastagen is able to produce a range of precast Elastin materials which have applications in surgery. The material is elastic, stable, persistent and biocompatible and can be formed into sheets, tubes and bands.

The precast materials are particularly attractive for use in surgical slings or hernia patches where the material's elastic properties will help both respond to the bodies movements but also provide greater resilience to splitting or tearing.
